During the summer we have a choice of two locations for our Wednesday runs: Carlton Forum or Gedling Country Park, both at 6:30pm. Gedling Country Park is not an option during winter as it is not lit.
At Carlton Forum we meet upstairs above reception. Free parking is available across from the centre, accessed via Huckerby’s Field. There are three routes available from Carlton Forum.
For Gedling Country Park, we meet at Spring Lane car park and you can choose to run any of the marked routes within the park.
5 miles: From Carlton Forum, we head across Coningswath Road and past the playing fields, turning right on to Valley Road. We run to the end of Valley Road and continue on to Hallam Road, turning left at the end on to Moore Road. When we reach Porchester Road we turn right and then right again at the top on to Woodborough Road. We run past the Mapperley shops then make a right down Westdale Lane at the traffic lights. All the way down Westdale Lane then right on to Gedling Road and another right on to Burton Road. Turn right once again up Cavendish Road and a left at the fork on to Coningswath Road and back to Carlton Forum.
5k: Start out on the 5 mile route but turn right on to Elmhurst Avenue, opposite the Co-op on Westdale Lane. Follow Elmhurst on to Coningswath Road, which will take you back to Carlton Forum.
4 miles: Start out on the 5 mile route but at the end of Hallam Road, turn right up Marshall Hill Drive and run up to Westdale Lane. Turn right on Westdale Lane and follow it until the end and run the rest of the 5 mile route back to Carlton Forum.
4 miles: Turn left from Carlton Forum and head down Coningswath Road and continue down Cavendish Road. At Carlton Square turn left on to Burton Road. As you pass the recreation ground turn left on to Shearing Hill, which becomes Main Road. Keep left at the mini roundabout then take the right on to Westdale Lane (now the fun begins). Continue up Westdale Lane until you reach Elmhurst Avenue on your left, near the Co-op. Elmhurst Avenue becomes Coningswath Road and will take you back to Carlton Forum.
5k: Simply shorten the 4 miles route by turning back at Scrumpy’s flower shop and retracing your steps back to Carlton Forum.
Flat 4 miles: Start off on the Westdale Wobble route but don’t turn right on to Westdale lane. Instead, carry on along Gedling Road and turn right on to Burton Road and retrace your steps back to Carlton Forum.
4 miles: Leave Carlton Forum and head down Coningswath Road and on to Cavenidish Road. At Carlton Square cross the road carefully on to Station Road and continue over the level crossing and on to Victoria Road. Take a left at the Co-op on to Chandos Street, which becomes Emery’s Road. At the end of Emery’s Road, turn left on to Stoke Lane and left again at the end of Stoke Lane on to Burton Road. Cross the road carefully to stay on Burton Road, continuing all the way back to Carlton Square, where you turn right up Cavendish Road and head back to Carlton Forum.
5k: Start on the 4 mile route but turn left off Station Road on to Conway Road at the pedestrian crossing. Run all the way along Conway Road and turn left at the end on to Burton Road. Follow Buton Road back to Carlton Square where you turn right up Cavendish Road and head back to Carlton Forum.
5 miles: Basically running the 4 mile route but after running along Burton Road, turn left at Carlton Square on to Station Road again. Turn left at the pedestrian crossing on to Conway Road and then left at the end of Conway Road on to Burton Road. From here you run back to Carlton Square, turning right up Cavendish Road and back to Carlton Forum.
